Unleash Your Natural Genius

In just the past few years scientists have thrown out most of the previous assumptions about how our brains work. Psychology, education and neuro-medicine are being revolutionized in our lifetime. Here's a sample:

Our brain gets weaker as we age. Right?
Wrong. There is now hard scientific evidence you can physically build your brain right up to very advanced old age. And there is also evidence that doing so will help offset Alzheimer's Disease (AD), should you suffer from it.

We are born with a certain number of neurons, and that determines our intelligence. Right?

Wrong. We now know that there are several kinds of intelligence: your IQ, your EQ, your HQ -- and who knows what else is waiting to be discovered?

Your IQ indicates how smart you are. Right?
Wrong. IQ is the most "physically limited" part of your intelligence. Your IQ thinking process just creates simple dedicated neural tracks. It is your 2+2=4 thinking. IQ operates a lot like a train straight going down the tracks. It's not very creative, but it does get you to your goal.

Thinking Beyond IQ
EQ, or emotional intelligence, is now known to be a much better indicator of real life intelligence. While IQ creates simple straight-line neural tracts, EQ creates complex networks consisting of thousands of communicating neurons.

With EQ, we're talking about your more complex, flexible, and creative brain power. EQ intelligence is build using trial and error, like the way you learned how to ride a bicycle.

Each time you got on your bike, it was a bit easier to balance. Right? That's because you used, and thereby strengthened, the EQ neural network created to balance your bike. Interestingly, that is why certain unique physical exercise schemes, many of them ancient, actually build your mindpower.

It's such complex networks that mark the difference between an average brain, and the brain of a genius. And the greatthing about EQ is this: Just like bodybuilders build muscle, you can build your EQ.

Your Amazing HQ

Now to what I call HQ -- your amazing Higher Thinking.

This is where what Einstein taught us about the elastic nature of reality actually manifests in your brain. Something truly amazing happens when you think with your HQ.

Take a moment and glance down at your desk and locate an object -- say your coffee cup. You found the cup easily, right? (Unless it was lost beneath a mass of papers you had to shuffle). So what part of your intelligence did you use to find that cup?

Your IQ thinking would be of no help, since this find the cup task is a unique and unknown challenge -- one for which there are no pre-established IQ neural tracts.

How about your EQ thought process? Well, if you make a habit of always placing your cup in precisely the same place, EQ might work somewhat. But the truth is this: When faced with such a unique find the cup challenge, your brain switches to your HQ (higher intelligence.)

And your HQ thinks in a totally unique, whole brain fashion. It does not use set neural tracts (like IQ), or even complex neural networks (like EQ). HQ is literally your higher brain. It lights up your entire higher thinking center (your cortex) to find that lowly coffee cup.

And when your brain does locate the cup, an amazing event occurs: All of the neurons used to find the cup begin to physically vibrate at exactly the same rate -- even though they are not even physically connected!

Furthermore: If you now look down to find a pen on your desk, the same thing occurs. But this time, the actual frequency (the rate of vibration) of your whole-brain vibration will be slightly different.

HQ creates awesome vibratory brain states like the *ah ha* experience of having a spontaneous insight. It is at the heart of powerful quantum leaps into higher states of reality. And it is also a powerful source of instantaneous and lasting personal transformation.

Accessing your Higher Intelligence
So if you are seeking personal development -- you'll want to develop your HQ. But here's the challenge: The major "gateway" into your HQ is your EQ -- your emotional intelligence. In terms of brain physics, this means to operate optimally your HQ must have access to slower brainwaves to get through the HQ door.

If your brain is locked into the faster (beta) brainwaves, HQ simply won't kick in. That's why you can't find your car keys when you're in a hurry (high beta brainwaves). And that's also why you can't get clear about a problem when you are stressed (stress causes very high beta brainwaves).

Nine Steps to FAST Success

How many times have you smashed up against a road block when you were after a goal, and wondered if you would EVER get there? There really are only two types of goal seekers -- those who "get it" and achieve their goals, and those who spend their lives wondering WHY they keep smashing up against those road blocks.

Here are nine ABSOLUTELY PROVEN keys to immediately "get it," and finally make some fast and lasting progress:

Get CLEAR! That amazing 3-pound brain of yours is the ultimate goal-seeking machine! You have trained it from childhood to respond what you want. Vague wishes about "being more successful" will NOT get you anywhere. Get definite and precise. Decide once and for all EXACTLY what you want! Otherwise you are just wasting your time and energy!

Get FOCUSED! Set your sights on ONE major goal. Too many goals will trip you up, unless they fall in line toward one ultimate goal, and you take them one at a time! Learn to focus!

Get GOING! Any truly meaningful goal takes REAL EFFORT! It will not just happen and fall in your lap. Dreams are a good thing - but success comes when you wake up and go to work!

Get FLEXIBLE! If you have created a plan of action and it is NOT working, sit down and take a good look at what you're doing. Do NOT hang in with a strategy that is obviously not working. Find another approach -- PERIOD!!!!

Get OPEN! Sometimes the best approach is to ask (or at least observe) other people who have already achieved what you are trying to achieve. But do remember to turn to truly qualified resources - not just any Tom, Dick or Mary. And if you are TRULY motivated -- considering getting a mentor!

Get POSITIVE! If your mind is filled with worry and frustration - your mental focus will just create more of the same. Positive results require positive expectations. Just hold an image that you WILL get where you want to go. Then hitting a bump in the road will just toughen up your resolve.

Get PASSIONATE! Passion is a great power for success. If you have true passion for your goal, you WILL achieve it. It you do not have a burning passion for your goal, ask yourself if it really represents your true desires.

Get PRESENT! Seek out and embrace personal change. Shake off your past and get present in the here and now. The present moment is your ONLY true personal point of power. Stop bringing past limitations into the present!

Get VISUALIZING! One of the most powerful (and often overlooked) tools for achieving success and building your belief in a goal is VIAUALIZATION. There is a very real reason it is recommended by so many super-successful people - because it works, and works well!

Put the power of visualization to work in your life - today. OR, of course, you can just pass this off as just a "pitch" and never know what benefits you could have gained!!

Why you should STOP Being Realistic

Most of us were taught that having a *realistic* opinion of who we are is basic to sound mental health. But is this necessarily true? Would we do better to have self-illusions?

The assumption is that normal, well-adjusted people have realistic views of their own potentials. And we also assume that folks who haven't managed to develop realistic self-concepts are either neurotic, or possibly somewhat insane.

But are these assumptions true? I would have to say no. My 30+ years of helping ordinary people achieve extraordinary levels of personal excellence has proven that actually the exact opposite is true!

The healthiest, happiest, most unlimited people I've known are actually totally unrealistic about their self-concepts. In short -- they have what realists would call unrealistically optimistic illusions about their own capabilities and potential.

But is this healthy? Let's view the research and clinical evidence: When they take psychological tests, these unrealistically optimisticpeople consistently do several things:

1. They tend to consistently exaggerate their positive qualities,
2. They consistently report seeing themselves as more ethical, more creative, more imaginative, and more intelligent than they really are, and
3. If asked to acknowledge their flaws, they tend to dismiss them as unimportant.

Yet interviews of these same optimistic folks reveal that they are very well-adjusted and happy -- and not focused on any negative aspects of their own personality.

So what about those who are more realistic about themselves and others?

This may come as quite a surprise. The research shows that though these folks have a more realistic viewpoint -- they often tend to suffer from depression and negativity. They are also less likely to achieve their goals.

This indicates that having an exaggerated view of your abilities and potential is better for your mental well-being than being realistic about your personal limitations.

Actually -- having unrealistically high optimism about your self tends to increase your motivation and persistence. And it therefore also increases the probability you'll achieve your goals. And this obviously leads to more satisfying life experiences.

The psychiatrist turned to the young man and asked, "Do you think dead people bleed?"

The young man thought about this for a moment, then answered: "No, all body functions have stopped when you're dead. So there would be no blood flowing."

The psychiatrist then took a needle from his desk and pricked the young man's finger. The young man gasped and stared at his finger in amazement. "Well," he finally stammered. "I'll be darned. Dead people DO bleed!"

His belief was so powerful that logical evidence had no influence over it at all.

Here's The Point
Here's the point of this old Abnormal Psychology clinical case: Unless you are willing to take action, your beliefs can remain beyond challenge -- even in the face of undeniable evidence they are not true.

Why is this so? It's because our beliefs have little or nothing to do with reality. They are artificially created "reality filters" built by our minds in an attempt to establish a sense of order and meaning in our personal world.

And once established, our beliefs then serve as a filter of our perceptions of the world around us.

Suppose you were told you're clumsy since early childhood, and you have come to believe it to be true. I'm willing to bet that if I give you a motor skills test proving you have above average coordination, you will "poo poo" the test as meaningless. Why? Because your deep subconscious belief would run right over the external evidence.

If you congruently believe something to be true, your subconscious mind will then automatically filter your perceptions of the world through that belief. In effect -- we only experience reality through our own belief filters.

Modern neuroscience has identified the portion of the brain that maintains our self-concept. It's the frontal lobe of the cortex located right behind your forehead.

Interestingly, the frontal lobe is also the crossroad of your brains emotional centers. Modern EEG studies have shown that negative emotions such as fear and anger register in the right portion of your frontal lobe. Positive emotions such as happiness, on the other hand, activate your left frontal lobe.

So what? Some people are born having a naturally low activation of their left frontal lobe
-- the happy emotions part of their brain.

And as you might predict, these folks tend to be committed realists. They are self-judging, and frequently have less success achieving their goals. If this is you -- you may also have been labeled shy or withdrawn as a child.

If you ARE a realist who would rather be an optimist, the following techniques will help you switch your brain around in the desired direction.

Self-Reflection -- A Tool for Positive Change
Although your brain sustains your self awareness -- it did not create it. The prefrontal cortex is only your self-awareness hardware. The software behind it is your own personal imagery and self-reflection.

You can buff up your self-concept by talking to yourself about yourself. Years of research have established that conscious self-reflection and self-talk are very powerful problem-solving and personal growth tools.

Do you have a history of depression or negative feelings about your self and your potential? Self-talk is a long-proven tool for overcoming that old programming.

A Powerful Self-Talk Exercise
Begin by becoming aware of the messages you're giving yourself. If you discover a lot of negative thoughts popping out of your subconscious mind, don't put yourself down.

This is just old programming, and it CAN be overcome. It will take some effort, but pick one of your negative assumptions and start to consistently challenge it using conscious self talk. *I'll never make a friend* becomes *I'm basically a friendly person, and can make new friends.

This is NOT some Pollyanna approach -- it's actually a very powerful, proven-effective mental reprogramming method.

Activate Your Left Frontal Lobe
The next thing you will want to do is to activate your left frontal lobe -- the side responsible for positive feelings, optimism, and those great unrealistic feelings about your own potential.

There's undeniable scientific proof you can activate your left frontal lobe by simply acting happy.

EEG brain scans have shown that laughter is a strong activator of the left frontal lobe -- and so is the genuine kind of smile that makes crinkles around your eyes. But polite social smiles do not activate the same portions of your brain.

Go look at yourself in the mirror and practice smiling. Watch the muscles around your eyes. Smile so that your facial skin gathers inward toward your eye sockets. This is called a Duchenne smile, after the 19th century French neurologist who first observed the difference between a genuine smile and a social smile.

Duchenne smiles have been proven by EEG scans to activate the portion of your brain associated with happy, optimistic feelings. And each time you activate this portion of your brain, you strengthen specific neural tracts connected to positive, optimistic thinking.

Give it a try. The present moment is your Point of Power. Whatever you dream of doing in your life -- just begin today and refuse to quit. There is greatness in you. Just stop being realistic, and let your true self out.
